- What is a commercial credit report?
- A commercial credit report is held against your business or ABN rather than against you personally. Commercial credit reporting bodies such as CreditorWatch, Equifax and illion collect court judgements, payment defaults, external administration records and trade payment behaviour reported by suppliers and lenders.
- Can a business default be removed?
- Only where the listing is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant, misleading or otherwise improperly recorded — for example a default listed against the wrong entity, an incorrect amount, a debt that was disputed at the time, or a listing made without the required notices. Accurate commercial listings cannot be removed and will remain until they expire.
- Does commercial credit reporting have the same protections as consumer reporting?
- Not identically. Consumer credit reporting is governed by Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code. Commercial credit reporting sits largely outside Part IIIA, but the Australian Privacy Principles still apply to the accuracy and correction of personal information, and misleading or unconscionable conduct rules still apply to how a listing was created.
- How much does commercial credit repair cost?
- A no win, no fee Australian credit repair service. We assess your file at no cost. Success fees are payable only when an agreed success stage is achieved, and every fee and success criterion is agreed with you in writing before work begins.
- Can I dispute a commercial listing myself for free?
- Yes. You can raise a correction request directly with the credit reporting body or the business that listed it at no cost, and you can complain free of charge to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority where the lister is a member, or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Using a paid service is always optional.
