Trusted Australian credit repair

Legal & compliance

Our obligations, set out plainly.

Credit repair is a regulated activity in Australia. This page explains how we operate, what we can and cannot do, your free alternatives, and how to make a complaint.

Licensing and regulation

Credit repair and credit reporting assistance are “debt management services” under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth). Providers must hold an Australian Credit Licence with a debt management services authorisation issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), or act as an authorised credit representative of a licensee.

A Ok Credit Repair will display its Australian Credit Licence number (or credit representative number) here and in its written services agreement before any fee-bearing work is agreed. Licence details: to be confirmed prior to launch — this page must not be published without them.

We also operate in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2014, the Australian Consumer Law and ASIC Regulatory Guide 234 on advertising financial products and services.

Free alternatives to a paid service

You do not need to pay anyone to correct your credit file. You can request your credit report free of charge from Equifax, illion and Experian, and ask the credit provider or bureau to correct information you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date, misleading or unlawfully listed. They must investigate at no cost to you.

Free, independent financial counselling is available through the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007. Free complaint resolution is available through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) on 1800 931 678.

Our service is optional and paid. We handle the assessment, evidence gathering and correspondence for people who prefer not to do it themselves.

What credit repair can and cannot do

Only information that is inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date, misleading or listed in breach of the credit reporting rules can be removed or corrected. Accurate and lawfully recorded listings cannot be removed, and we will not attempt to have them removed.

We do not guarantee any outcome. We make no representation about your credit score, your ability to obtain finance, or the interest rate any lender may offer you. Any general information on this site about the effect of credit reporting on finance is educational only and is not advice about your circumstances.

We do not provide credit assistance, financial product advice, legal advice or tax advice, and nothing on this website is an offer of credit.

Fees, agreements and cooling-off

Credit file assessments are provided at no cost and with no obligation. Before any fee-bearing work begins you will receive a written services agreement setting out the services, the fixed fee for each listing, when a fee becomes payable, and how to cancel.

Our “no win, no fee” arrangement means you are not charged for a listing that is not successfully removed or corrected. It does not mean the service is free of all charges if we succeed. There are no upfront fees, no monthly retainers and no cancellation fees, and you may cancel in writing before disputes are lodged.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us and we will acknowledge your complaint and respond within the timeframes required under ASIC Regulatory Guide 271 for internal dispute resolution.

If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may refer it free of charge to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), our external dispute resolution scheme: 1800 931 678, info@afca.org.au, GPO Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001. AFCA membership details will be listed here alongside our licence details.

Privacy and your information

We collect personal and credit-related information only where it is reasonably necessary to assess and dispute listings on your behalf, and only with your written authority. We handle it in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or complain about how it has been handled. Unresolved privacy complaints can be referred to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
