Frequently asked

Straight answers to real questions.

Everything most Australians ask us before booking an assessment. If your question isn't here, we're happy to answer it in a free call.

Is credit repair legal in Australia?
Yes. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Credit Reporting Code give you the right to have inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date or unlawfully listed information corrected. Credit repair is the professional service of exercising those rights on your behalf.
What can A Ok Credit Repair actually remove?
We assess and dispute listings that are inaccurate, unlawful or reported in breach of the Credit Reporting Code — including defaults, court judgements, unauthorised enquiries and misreported late payments. Valid, correctly listed debts cannot be removed, and we will tell you that upfront.
How much does it cost?
Your credit file assessment is free. Beyond that, we work on a strict no win, no fee basis. If a disputed listing isn't successfully removed or corrected, you don't pay for it. Exact fees per listing are confirmed in writing after your assessment.
How long does the process take?
Most disputes are resolved within 30 – 90 days, though this varies based on the listing type, the creditor involved and the complexity of your file.
Will disputing a listing hurt my credit score?
The dispute process itself does not add negative information to your file. If a listing is removed or corrected, the impact on your score depends on the rest of your file. We don't make specific score guarantees — anyone who does should be treated with caution.
Which credit bureaus do you work with?
The three Australian consumer bureaus — Equifax, Experian and illion — and CreditorWatch for commercial listings relevant to sole traders and small business owners.
Do I need a specific reason to book an assessment?
No. Many clients simply want an accurate, current view of their credit file and a professional opinion on whether anything on it is disputable.
What if you tell me you can't help?
That's a genuine possibility, and we'll say so at the assessment stage. There is no cost, no obligation, and no follow-up sales pressure. We only take on files where there is a real basis to act.
Is A Ok Credit Repair licensed?
Credit repair is a 'debt management service' regulated by ASIC under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth), which requires an Australian Credit Licence with a debt management services authorisation (or authorisation as a credit representative), plus membership of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Our licence and AFCA membership numbers are shown on our Legal & compliance page and in our written services agreement.
Could I do this myself for free?
Yes. You can request your credit report free of charge and ask the credit provider or bureau to correct anything you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date, misleading or unlawfully listed — they must investigate at no cost to you. Free financial counselling is available on 1800 007 007, and AFCA resolves complaints free of charge on 1800 931 678. Our service is optional and paid, for people who would rather have it handled for them.
What if I want to make a complaint about A Ok Credit Repair?
Contact us and we will handle it under our internal dispute resolution process in line with ASIC Regulatory Guide 271. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can take the complaint to AFCA free of charge on 1800 931 678.
How is A Ok Credit Repair different from other credit repair companies?
We keep it small and focused. Every file is reviewed personally, we quote every fee in writing before starting work, and our no win, no fee arrangement is genuine — you don't pay for a listing unless it is successfully removed or corrected.
